Program Description As part of the Faculty of Natural Resource Management, our Environmental Management program will provide you with a background in natural processes in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and forest science. You will gain the business skills, scientific expertise and practical experience needed to solve modern environmental and sustainability challenges.
Our Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management shares a common curriculum with the Honours Bachelor of Forestry for the first two years, exposing you to various topics including:
Climate change mitigation Wildlife habitat management Water/forest interactions Natural resources policy Geographical information systems First Nations forestry This well-rounded approach to our program allows you to develop your interests before specializing in one of three areas in Environmental Management after your second year:
Wildlife Conservation and Management Conservation Planning and Management Sustainable Land Use While each specialization focuses on different subjects, they all seek to understand and maintain the natural integrity and processes of our ecosystems. We also offer a Co-Operative Education program if you are interested in gaining experience that surpasses typical fieldwork and research opportunities.
NOTE: Almost all Lakehead University programs are designed with courses that require successful completion of a a Fall session prerequisite course. As a result, students who choose to begin their academic studies in the Winter session will find the course selection extremely limited and will be restricted to attending on a part-time basis until the following Fall academic session. Most study permits require that the applicant is a full-time student. Because of this, It is recommended that students apply for a September start.
